"Sprucing Something Out of a Very Terrible Kiss"
The actors may look cute (and hot) but the story is just the same old cheap flick you may watch if you're blatantly bored or just into romantic comedies. The Kissing Booth is a terrible idea for its love story that is rushed and for its actors that are weak and bad at acting. There are better romantic flicks to look forward to on Netflix but this isn't one.
The Kissing Booth is just one of those ideas by best friends Elle and Lee to have on their school carnival as fund-raising for their organization. Elle is forced to have Lee's brother, Noah, be a part of it as demand was really there for him. Though failed to have him on it, Elle eventually kisses Noah at The Kissing Booth eventually starting a love story between them that is against the will of Lee as both Lee and Elle had always that rule which forbade Elle to fall in love with Lee's brother. What follows is a chaotic turn of events between Lee, Elle and Noah.
Netflix may have those hits but this definitely is a miss. Though Jacob Elordi and Joey King are amazing in the most physical sense, their acting is just not good and the chemistry between them is weak. I was even looking forward for more screen time from the antagonistic "bitches" as they could have made the movie more interesting. The story isn't a saving grace either. Causing chaos out of something so shallow is just a terrible idea. Having to fall in love with just one kiss and fight over rules set from childhood may be realistic but it doesn't seem to really work out if you would create a sensible movie. Nah, I won't recommend this film just because it has those hot stars you see online.
