"A Modern Take on a Timeless Classic"

Lady Gaga is definitely a star. Pop culture, music, art, TV and now, film; isn't there anything this superstar can't do. I've been a fan of Lady Gaga ever since she released her first single way back 2008. Her "Star Is Born" movie is a magnus opus worth the chance to see on Lady Gaga's transition to a different persona we never had seen her before. Together with an amazing story crafted and directed by Bradley Cooper, "A Star Is Born" is definitely the film to beat in this year's cinema awards race. Bradley Cooper's film expertise proves he also can make movies aside from just being a part of it. A movie which combines music, celebrity culture, America and love in the best way possible, "A Star Is Born" is outstanding, an achievement worthy of praise.

🚩🚩🚩SPOILERS AHEAD 🚩🚩🚩

Here are some important points I had on watching "A Star Is Born":

✅ Lady Gaga
- Lady Gaga's acting is the best asset this film has. She's definitely on her way for an Oscar because of this film. She already proven herself on the "American Horror Story" series but in this film she proves she can play a non-eccentric, muchly serious character. Lady Gaga as Ally proves how amazing Gaga can be as she portrays a character that isn't like her in real life. Where Lady Gaga is a superstar in real life, on this film, Lady Gaga is but a dreamer who's forced to be a celebrity she doesn't want to be. If you never loved Lady Gaga before, I'm definitely sure this movie will make you love her.

✅ Bradley Cooper
- Where Bradley Cooper is already a veteran in cinema through his acting, he shows how great a director he can be in this film. The cinematography on every scene was just stunning. You can just imagine how hard to top bill a movie at the same time direct it especially when you play a character that needs to sing and play a guitar all at the same time. By the way, Bradley Cooper makes an amazing rock star.

✅ "Shallow"
- The song that Ally and Jackson performs for first time together is just romantic. It's that scene where you can't help but just root for both of them and also fall in love. It's definitely an ode to couples who want to have a deeper sense of love and belonging, moving away from that shallow ground.

✅ Romance
- This movie never failed to make us fall in love with both Jackson Maine and Ally. I'm just amazed by how Cooper and Gaga pulled everything in this film. Their chemistry was really on the spot. While the film is a musical on it's own right, the romance between the two leads was, for me, the highlight of the film.

✅ Rock and Pop
- The use of Rock and Pop was for me pivotal for both Ally and Jackson. Where Jackson plays on a rock band and Ally plays as a pop star, their contradictory musical genres initiates the clash and climax between the two characters. This made their characters go on separate ways pursuing their individual careers. This, for me, also sparked the break down of Jackson Maine as there's his longing towards Ally who is on par to become a successful singer.

✅ "Why Did You Do That"
- One scene to look forward in this film is Ally's performance of the song "Why Did You Do That" on the iconic Saturday Night Live stage. It was a special treat from Lady Gaga, as we know her more for her lively and catchy tunes. This song, though, is unlike any pop song Lady Gaga sang before.

✅ The Grammys
- Oh that scene, that scene where Jackson was on a total wreckage from his career, probably the end of his career even. As Ally receives her "Best New Artist" award at the Grammy's, Jackson destroys Ally's moment by showing up drunk on stage, urinating and then falling hard to the floor. Despite all the embarassment though, all Ally cared about was Jackson's condition. While Ally continues to play solo, Jackson gets to spend time on rehab afterwards. By the way, in real life, Lady Gaga never got the chance to win the same award on the Grammy's.

✅ "I'll Never Love Again"
- The last song that Gaga as Ally performs in this movie, "I'll Never Love Again" was for me the best played song in the entire movie. You can feel all those emotions of sadness and empathy for Ally in this tribute he gives for his husband. Tears shed my eyes a bit with this song.

✅ Lady Gaga
- Once again, I place Lady Gaga as a reason to watch this film but this time around I praise how beautiful she was on this film. Lady Gaga, without the weird and extravagant clothes we know her with, is definitely alluring and stunning with all her natural beauty and charm. It's a first for me to see Lady Gaga without the weird clothes and damn, she really look so good.

✅ Celebrity Culture and Mental Health
- All in all, A Star Is Born is a reflection of America's celebrity culture involving both the rise and the meltdown of celebrities due to fame, fortune, drug addiction, alcoholism and many more. It aesthetically presents us with the struggle of celebrities on maintaining a good image as they progress with their careers. We blame a stars downfall with the acts they show in public but we forget that they too are humans that suffer the same mental health issues a normal person would have. Depression is definitely real and it's the real enemy when the people we love commits killing themselves amongst all odds. It's heartbreaking how the story between Ally and Jackson ended but for it's many iterations it really is at is because the message is clear for it's audience.

With 10 good reasons to watch and no reasons not to watch,
"A Star Is Born" is a 10/10 for me.
