JR's The Month in Review: August 2012
Finding Nemo gets a 3D reboot, Angela Merkel named World's Most Powerful Woman of the Year, Jesse Robredo bids farewell, and PSY's 'Oppa Gangnam Style' Effect; those are some of August 2012's Headlines. The months of July and August 2012 were full of controversies especially in the world of politics, media and entertainment. It was a very sad moment for the Filipinos when an entertainment icon and a public servant passed just recently. Dolphy, The Philippine King of Comedy passed away last July 2012; whereas, Jesse Robredo, the former DILG secretary, passed away last August 2012. It was nine years when Finding Nemo gained worldwide box office success; it finally gets a 3D makeover. With the exciting news of Finding Nemo 3D, it was a very devastating moment for a community in Colorado as a shooting massacre happened within a local midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. In media, Angela Merkel gets named the World's Most Powerful Woman for the second consecutive year; Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga and Sofia Vergara also made the Forbes' list. This month, we also go back to what has been London Olympics 2012. Last August 2012, an innocence causes a riot worldwide. It's July 2012 and August 2012 in review.

Oppa Gangnam Style
AUGUST 2012 TECHNOLOGY:
"OPPA GANGNAM STYLE" EFFECT
On track to become the most viewed video in You Tube history, PSY's insanely catchy K-Pop smash has been watched 330 million times, and is number one in Australia and the UK. You must have heard the wonderfully uplifting Gangnam Style, by K-Pop superstar PSY over the last few weeks. A brilliant satire on the excesses of Korean's version of credit card touting cashed-up bogans, the song has exploded on to the world's consciousness to such an extent that it has become the most-watched video of 2012. Since being posted on YouTube on July 15, Gangnam Style has bounced its way past Carly Rae Jepsen's hit Call Me Maybe, passing her 277 million views more than a week ago. Now, with 330 million views on YouTube in less than three months, Gangnam Style is closing in on Justin Bieber's Baby, which has amassed 783 million views since February 2010. As Africa, Europe and South America wake-up to G-Style, not only will PSY be number one by Christmas, he'll break the internet at the same time.

JR's In-Depth Review:
"Carly Rae Jepsen may have brought a big hit last June 2012, PSY brought a bigger hit that may be called as the Hit of the Year. Gangnam Style, a song by K-Pop Superstar PSY, is a dance craze which gained public attention just recently. With some publicity from the MTV Video Music Awards, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and The Today Show, PSY's Gangnam Style is set to become a future Billboard No. 1 song. Gangnam, according to what I have researched, is a local district in Seoul, South Korea where PSY was hugely influenced with.  It just shows how Koreans can keep up the beat when it comes to pop and culture. It just shows how powerful K-Pop is slowly becoming. I hope that Justin Bieber would't feel bad if PSY defeated 'Baby' as The Most Viewed Video in YouTube history."
