JR's One Fear Starts Up The Thousand Miles of Success

It is another time for slow jamming the news.....
This time, JR will slow jam one blog posted by one of the most famous authors and bloggers from around the world. He is no other than John Maxwell.

This blog is dedicated to John Maxwell’s blog on fear dated January 10, 2010.

INTRODUCTION
Fear, according to the Oxford Dictionary, means an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. We all have this said six body sense, fear. Fear does not basically mean being afraid of ghosts or what not, but being afraid to do what we want, get what we want or achieve what we want. Sometimes fear is the thing that makes someone unsuccessful.

MAKING SENSE OF FEAR
Fear defines on how a person deals with the daily miseries and woes of life. Definitely, in every day of our lives, we are faced with different situations which sometimes challenge us to face them. I remember one time in the Philippines when a famous female figure stood up in facing one of the most feared dictators in the history of the Philippines. She was faced with the different threats and criticisms by the dictator’s scholiasts. But instead of just leaving the Philippines in front of jeopardy, pain and sorrow, she faced what is truly her most feared kettle of fish – standing up against the unfair and unequal treatment of the Marcos administration. She, the woman in yellow suit, stood up against this fear, replaced the devastating Marcos administration and became one of the Most Powerful Women of All Time. She gave sense on what is fear and how to conquer it. She was no other than Corazon “Tita Cory” Aquino.

ADMITTING FEAR
Basing from John Maxwell’s Blog, “before we can conquer our fears we must first admit them”. This quoted statement is truly a very inspiring one since it shows humility and acceptance when it comes to our own personal life. There are a lot of challenges already set upon us in the future. If we do not recognize these fears, then these can block our way towards success. These fears might become hindrances preventing us from doing, getting, and achieving what we want. In history, there was one American President who really feared that because of his very high consideration of the slaves in America, he would be fought upon by different people whether it may this person be in position or not. He admitted that he feared that what he done would change the people’s trust with him. But because of his persuasive speeches and acts, he influenced others to support his plan against slavery. Abraham Lincoln became the inspiration of Black Americans to fight for their freedom.

TRUSTING OURSELVES
“Trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if its broken.” All of us have these so called “broken trusts” within ourselves. We believe that we might fail, we believe that we might fall, we believe that we might be in vain. Trust within ourselves is what will keep our fear be afraid with us. Fear affects our way of life but if we place trust within ourselves then fear will be afraid of us. Oprah Winfrey was once challenged if she can become an influence to the TV viewers. Being a victim of malicious acts by her relatives, she stood up against it and become an inspiration to woman to stand up against it. On 1986, Oprah Winfrey was tasked to host a show which was believed to change the atmosphere of the world we are living in. Oprah Winfrey’s show was truly a risk since it really gained a very low TV rating during its first year. But, since Oprah Winfrey trusted that she can do it, her fear was abolished and she became one of the Most Respected Celebrities of All Time. It was her trust within herself that knocked out the fear within her.

CONQUERING OUR FEAR
Fear is very hard to conquer especially if you already grew up with it. To conquer fear, one must have courage. Quoted from John Maxwell’s blog: “courage equals lack of fear”. Basing from this statement, John Maxwell stated that this is a misconception standing within all people. I believe that this explanation is true since courage is the will of a person to conquer fear not the lack of fear. Courage is what leads a person to become successful in the future. Conquering our fears, facing them, and stepping on them are what define an inspiration.  There was actually one famous athlete from the past who withstand his allergy against chlorine. This athlete was no other than Ian Thorpe, a famous swimmer known globally. Ian Thorpe is very aware that swimming pools have chlorine. With just the right amount of courage, he conquered his allergy with chlorine and achieved success by receiving different Olympic medals.

BEING SUCCESSFUL, THE CONCLUSION
Being successful is the result of admitting fear, trusting ourselves and conquering our fear. All of us have the Cory Aquino, Abraham Lincoln, Oprah Winfrey, and Ian Thorpe within us. We just have to bring them out and be the best in what we can be. We should be free in doing what we want, getting what we want and achieving what we want. Doing is different from getting and achieving. All of which is the drive of ourselves to become successful. I was truly inspired by John Maxwell’s blog.

I spent a lot of my life afraid to step out and be all I could be. It was like being tight in a bud. It seemed safe for a while . . . comforting, actually. Opening up is what seemed risky and painful.

But over time, as living in fear continued to keep me from where I wanted to be, it became more and more uncomfortable until the pain of being closed was more than the perceived pain of opening up.

Funnily enough, the opening up ended up not being painful at all. I just told myself it was all those years.

Thank you at narealize ko yun...

  14. “Trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if its broken.”
But once a mirror has been broken but put back into pieces, it isn't that steady anymore. and that's what happens with trust. Trust can't be easily retrieved once it has been lost... right? right :)
