"Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken"

"Kill the boy and let the man be born."
- Maester Aemon to Jon Snow

The great game is now and it's terrifying. The battle against the dead and towards the throne is finally going into motion. Behold, our beloved Jon Snow rises from the dead vengeful as ever, not just he avenges for his death but also for the entire North as he battles Ramsay Bolton for Winterfell. Down south in King's Landing, Cersei is about to kill all her enemies after being shamed by the Sparrows. Everything goes according to plan as she manages to burst the Sept of Baelor into flames. Meanwhile, outside Westeros, Queen Daenerys has fought for peace in Meereen. She would eventually form a large army comprising of Unsullied and Dothrakis while also creating alliances with the Greyjoys, Tyrells and Martells as she finally decides to go towards Westeros. We are on close guard on these three people - Jon Snow, Queen Daenerys and Queen Cersei - as the true battle in Westeros is now starting.

The first eight episodes build up tension in what will be two of the strongest in Game of Thrones, eventually these would set up the future battles towards the Army of the Dead and against the diabolical Cersei Lannister. Each episode keeps us hanging making us want for more and more and more. It's no doubt that Season 6 is the best the series has to offer. The "Battle of the Bastards" alone provides us a spectacular, action-packed ride that exceeds violence and rather triumphs over war films as it depicts a battle in the most legitimate and strategic medieval sense. It's well-choreographed with excellent direction and cinematography unmatched by the upcoming battles in the final season. The "The Winds of Winter", on the other hand, presents a poetic ending for your typical violent series going all theatrical and orchestral as we see a shamed Cersei gets her dramatic retribution but again not without casualty.

🚩🚩🚩SPOILERS AHEAD 🚩🚩🚩

Here are 5 of my most memorable moments and 3 of the most standout
from the sixth season of Game of Thrones:

✅ Jon Snow's Resurrection
- Didn't really see this coming but Jon Snow gets a chance at vengeance and redemption after being resurrected to life. After being left alone to suffer his wounds at last season's end, Jon Snow is presumed dead. Everyone can't help but feel hopeless at that moment until so-called "Blood Magic" was talked and raised by sir Davos and lady Melisandre. We wait any movement as the magic was performed hoping that indeed the right dose of it would bring Jon Snow back to life. While it might seem to be a failed attempt as everyone left the room, lo and behold, hope is alive, Jon Snow would suprisingly breathe himself back to life. At his first sight of everyone, Jon Snow gets hugged by Tormund and Edd, everyone remained in shock. After killing his murderers, Jon decides to leave the Night's Watch. Wew, thank the old gods and new for blood magic.

✅ The Battle of the Bastards
- And here comes the most ambitious Battle of the Bastards... Despite just returning from the dead, Jon Snow being stronger and wiser than ever seems the right guy to lead against the flesh-flaying Boltons. Bolton's spine-chilling threats are no match for the fury and anger of his enemies. Problem was Jon Snow is lacking of men that Ramsay is adequate of. The bastard Ramsay have the support of the Umbers and Karstarks while the bastard Stark has the Wildlings, a giant, men of the Mormonts, the Mazins and the Hornwoods at his back. The battle is signaled when Ramsay killed a vulnerable Rickon running towards Jon Snow. Chaos erupts and a well planned military tactic by Ramsay kept him at an advantage against Jon's. While Jon Snow seems to be giving his all especially in a one-shot sequence where he kills multiple enemy men, the battle seems to be a losing cause to Jon Snow until Sansa brings with her knights from the Vale through Littlefinger. The battle eventually ends when Jon Snow beats out Ramsay inside Winterfell leaving life for Sansa to torture. Banners of the Starks are raised back in their once stolen fortress.

✅ Sept of Baelor Explosion
- Violent as it might seem but how it was presented was poetic and theatrical. After an action-packed Battle of the Bastards, this artistic and orchestral explosion is somewhat soothing (probably for me, despite the chaos and casualty involved). As Cersei is about to have her "sins" be heard for trial, she has already planned an extravagant revenge towards all those who shamed her at her walk of atonement. Queuing at a symphonic music, everything is put forth into motion as Cersei waits at the Red Keep. People at the Sept of Baelor are waiting for Cersei after Loras's trial was done. Lancel who gone out for Cersei would soon discover barrels of wildfire under the sept which is timed by a slowly burning candle. Failed to stop the candles, Lancel has to watch in agony as the wildfire bursts into flames of green that would proceed until the halls of the Sept killing all those present at the trial. We watch in horror as Queen Margaery is killed which would consequently cause the King Tommen to commit suicide. This would set forth the crowing of Cersei Lannister as the new queen of the Seven Kingdoms, making her the newest target of the different enemy houses including the Queen Daenerys.

✅ Burning of the Khals
- Daenerys was caught and somewhat imprisoned in the very same camp where she started as being the Khaleesi. Tradition dictates that widowed wives of Khals are to be left to live their remaining lives at Vaes Dothrak. While Jorah and Daario seems to be saving the day, Daenerys have a different plan of her own. In a bid to get the Dothrakis, Daenerys burns all the khals inside their own refuge. The unburnt Daenerys rises in the flames to the awe of all the people. This was crucial for Daenerys to win back a bombarded Meereen.

✅ "Hold The Door"
- We now understand who Hodor is and how he had that name to begin with. After getting marked by the Night King, Bran is susceptible for any attack at any moment by the wights. The white walkers and the dead would soon discover Bran's hiding place and would give chase to Bran, Hodor and Meera. The Children of the Forest and Bran's direwolf hold back the army to spare them time. As they free themselves outside, Hodor would have to hold the door to not let any of the dead from escaping giving Meera and Bran the chance to flee. It was a heartbreaking moment as you know Hodor's strength isn't enough to save himself from the horde. What's more heartbreaking is the vision of Hodor's seizures configuring with what he is doing at the present.

➕Kit Harington (Jon Snow)
- Returning from the dead is an impossible feat but Jon Snow did just that becoming stronger and smarter than before. It was depressing seeing him die but Jon Snow is just too fit to be a ruler and possibly even the Iron Throne that we aren't just over with him yet. It was grueling to wait for him return to life but thank the old gods and new he did. He is probably needed for something even more greater. Watch out for his Battle of the Bastards against Ramsay Bolton where he wins and would eventually be named King of the North. The one-shot scene involving him fighting enemies is a highlight and truly is hardwork in acting. Is it true though that Jon has a small pecker? He's definitely hot though.

➕ Maisie Williams (Arya Stark)
- Blind her maybe but this woman is definitely a fighter. She is further trained in The House of White and Black despite the injury while becoming a more fluid assassin in preparation for fulfilling her kill list. It's only now we get to fully see her as a true fighter. Last season, we explored her angst now we see her aggression.

➕ Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell)
- Alongside her beauty, I can't imagine a more compassionate queen than Margaery. They are a power, Tommen and Margaery. I always go back to where she started, when she managed to be faithful to a homoerotic king Renly who was more attracted to her brother, Loras. She then balanced the ante with the violent King Joffrey by showing a sympathetic Queen to the people of Westeros. She eventually gets married again this time to Joffrey's brother Tommen. Her reign would be cut short for testifying falsehood for her brother. It's too bad she gets killed off early, I guess she deserved more after being tortured and also manipulated at the Sept of Baelor when she was righteous and benevolent to begin with. Margaery made a lasting mark in what is a very dangerous Westeros.

Given the chance to rate this season of Game of Thrones,
I'll give it an outstanding 10/10.
