"Hear Me Roar!"

"What good is power if you cannot protect the ones you love?"
- Cersei Lannister to Prince Oberyn Martell

And finally the moment we've been waiting for, King Joffrey Baratheon, or better, Lannister has been killed. Yes I said it, it's been a long way coming but it finally happened. We follow the consequences of his death which leaves the Lannisters stronger and at the same time vulnerable. Both Sansa and Tyrion are at the forefront of the suspects. People all over Westeros are taking pleasure from his demise since a king as mad as him never deserve the throne to begin with. The Tyrells are on the peak of reaching the throne while the Martells are close at getting their revenge. Daenerys is slowly picking up her army while Stannis and even an older and younger Bolton are slowly claiming the North to their advantage, the former knowing the presence of a greater threat beyond the wall. Chaos is sprucing all over Westeros as the play for the Iron Throne continues.

🚩🚩🚩SPOILERS AHEAD 🚩🚩🚩

Here are 5 of my most memorable moments and 3 of the most standout
from the fourth season of Game of Thrones:

✅ Joffrey Baratheon's Death
- We waited for this to happen and yes it finally did. How he died is sadistic and we definitely love it. As the celebration for Margaery and Joffrey's wedding are at play, everyone across King's Landing are also to take pleasure in the affair. Several guests across Westeros were invited including a deviant Prince Oberyn Martell from the region of Dorne. Just as when Joffrey was showing superiority over his uncle Tyrion, King Joffrey ingests a poison that would choke him to death at the hands of an unknown slayer. While we linger in happiness at the death of such violent king, we are at wonder who really did it.

✅ Tyrion's Trial
- It has all come to Tyrion's trial when Joffrey Baratheon was declared dead. Despite us being sure that Tyrion has nothing to do with the affair, we are made to believe his guilt by listening to convincing yet misconstrued narrations by witnesses organized by Cersei. The set of jury are mislead with acts that would eventually lead to Tyrion killing Joffrey. What's worse is that Shae, Tyrion's lover, is made to testify against him. Tyrion would succumb by admitting to sins that disclude the killing of his nephew and asks for a Trial by Combat that would soon test his innocence by virtue of the gods. Tyrion insulting the audience at his trial is an the icing on the cake.

✅ Trial by Combat
- At long last, Tyrion's guilt is judged by combat. Tyrion's champion is Prince Oberyn Martell. Cersei's champion is Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane who Prince Oberyn assumes responsible for the rape and murder of his sister Elia. It's a cat and mouse chase between them as Prince Oberyn's speed and skill is somewhat matched to the strength of The Mountain. Unfortunately, an almost winning Prince Oberyn lets his guard down to pursue his selfish desires eventually killing him and making Tyrion guilty. (Good news though, Tyrion gets to escape before being sentenced to death and would also get revenge both on Shae and his father, Lord Tywin).

✅ Mance Ryder and His Wildling Army
- Mance Ryder and his wildling army is set to wage war against the Night's Watch to gain control of Castle Black. With 100,000 wildlings against a hundred Night's Watch, the battle seems to be against Jon's all the more made difficult with a set of wildlings attacking within the castle ruins. We see giant after giant even mammoths trying to destroy the gates to let Mance's army pass through but the Night's Watch is just prepared to hold their enemy back. Jon's tactics prove to be successful not without a casualty, that would be in the form of Ygritte, Jon's love interest. It's a heartbreaking scene watching Jon eventually burn Ygritte's body later.

✅ Meereen
- We follow Daenerys as she traverse the very eerie route to Meereen which are filled with crucified child slaves pointing to its direction. Daenerys and her army prepare to invade the city to eventually punish the slavers and also break the chains of slaves. Daenerys successfully gained stronghold by fueling the uprising of slaves even lending them arms for the cause. As slaves were liberated, each and every slave master suffered the same crucifixion that the child slaves had to go through. Being the new head of the region, Daenerys is challenged with the many situations the citizens of the area are facing: one where her dragons involves the flaming of sheeps and another her child, another where a slave wants to go back to his master to pursue what he does best and another involving the proper burial of a cruficied slaver. Daenerys being queen is just starting, all the more when she possibly claims the Iron Throne.

➕Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon)
- While he made his mad presence be felt in the three seasons that passed, it would be at the hands of death that King Joffrey was at his finest. It is were Jack's acting was its most superb. How everything was done was extremely vicious and savage which makes it fitting for a very vicious and savage king himself.

➕Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister)
- While Joffrey is definitely mad, Tywin is just as sinister and tyrannical. He is the Lord of Casterly Rock who wants to fluster the Lannister legacy in Westeros at the expense of his children's love. He knows how to play the Game of Thrones very well more than her daughter Cersei does it. His wisdom is questionable but all the more needed when her children are making hasty decisions. I guess he knows better than anyone. Ironically, he would meet his demise with one that has the same blood as his, a Lannister.

➕Pedro Pascal (Prince Oberyn Martell)
- What's violence without a sprinkle of lust. Prince Oberyn is unlike no other prince. He takes pleasure with the company of both men and women in bed. But, despite all of that, he is filled with utmost vengeance for the death of her sister Elia at the hands of Tywin's Ser Gregor Clegane. We follow his escapades until he gets the chance of redeeming her sister. The question is will his travel all the way from Dorne prove to be successful or a waste.

Given the chance to rate this season of Game of Thrones,
I'll give it an outstanding 10/10.
